Over the past two decades, I have had the privilege of training with some of the world’s leading hypnotists in both therapeutic and entertainment hypnosis. Although their methods often differed, they all shared one thing in common—they were exceptionally skilled at producing the results they intended.
What fascinated me was not their success, but their explanations.
Each had a different understanding of why hypnosis worked. Their observations were remarkably consistent. Their explanations were not.
That question shaped the direction of my career.
As I continued practicing, teaching, and studying hypnosis, I began assembling a framework that could organize those observations into a coherent understanding of the process. My goal was never to replace the knowledge that had come before, but to explain it more clearly and teach it more effectively.
The breakthrough came when I encountered predictive processing. Rather than replacing hypnosis, it provided a modern explanatory framework that organized many of the observations experienced hypnotists had relied on for generations. More importantly, it made it possible to explain not only why hypnosis works, but why it sometimes doesn’t—and how to systematically adapt when it doesn’t.

Our principles-first approach helps students develop a coherent understanding before asking them to master increasingly complex techniques. Rather than collecting scripts or memorizing procedures, students learn to reason from principles, solve problems deliberately, and adapt confidently to the individual in front of them.
The goal is not simply to produce competent hypnotists.
The goal is to develop Modern Applied Hypnotists—practitioners who understand the process deeply enough to continue learning, adapting, and contributing throughout their careers.
That means developing exceptional practitioners, improving hypnosis education, encouraging meaningful research, promoting ethical practice, and helping the public better understand one of the most powerful tools available for directed human change.
